San Jacinto is so very different from Palomar or Cuyamaca. Our popular annual one-day bus trip to the San Jacinto Mountains will take the Palm Springs Tram up the mountain and hike over to Humber Park in the Idylwild area where the bus will pick us up.
Some uphill but most of the C rating is downhill. You can choose an 8 or 10 mile hike.
Meet at 7 a.m. at the I-15 Penasquitos Park and Ride at the Penasquitos-Poway exit. Drive west of I-15 on Penasquitos Blvd to the second traffic signal (Paseo Montril) and turn left. Turn left again into the first driveway; the lot is behind Unocal 76 and McDonalds. Bus returns about 6:30 p.m. You may carpool to Park & Ride. Bring lunch and water. Trip limited to 45 hikers.
Send check for $40 payable to "Sierra Club" to Lois Day, 4654 Glacier Av, San Diego 92120 before June 5. Include phone number. Check refundable only if your place can be filled.
Wednesday in the Mountains traditionally schedules this annual one-day bus trip but also publishes local day trips throughout the year in the Hi Sierran.
