Nov 25-28, THANKSGIVING SKI IN MAMMOTH All levels Barbara Domurad Homey condo accommodations, a bountiful Thanksgiving dinner and (with help from mother nature) great skiing. Price is $210 for 4 nights lodging and two dinners. Carpooling is encouraged. Dec 29-Jan 2, NEW YEARS BEAR VALLEY CROSS-COUNTRY SKI BUS TRIP All levels Alice Fichandler, 619-226-6083 Come join us to bring in the new year at Bear Valley where we will be staying in condos at the ski area and enjoying 3 full days of both cross-country and downhill ski options. Bear Valley is located in the Sierras between Yosemite and Tahoe in Alpine County. The area has an extensive cross-country track system, a downhill resort, miles of backcountry skiing, and telemark opportunities. We will bring in the New Year with a progressive dinner which has been a success in previous years. Beginners are welcome. Cost is $360, which includes transportation, lodging and instruction. Jan 14-18, TIOGA PASS WINTER RESORT Intermediate to advanced skiers Rhea Leptich Ski to a snowed-in lodge on the east side of Yosemite with heated cabins, shower, etc. The food is outstanding, lodge is cozy and company great! Cost is $400 per person. Includes 6 delicious meals and lodging. Carpool and 1st night motel is not included. Trip is limited to 12. Feb 4-7, OSTRANDER SKI HUT, Yosemite National Park Strong, experienced skiers Fred Gabbard, 619-297-6471 (email preferred) The ski to the hut is approximately 10 miles, and requires stamina and cross-country skiing experience; not for novices. Day tours around Horse Ridge and the Buena Vista Crest. You must pack in your food, fuel, water filter, sleeping bag and personal gear. Final dates will be determined by lottery in early November. Contact Fred by Oct 10. Limited to 15. Hut fees $60 + carpool and motel.

You don't even have to ski to enjoy Yosemite! Cost: $450 (two/room), $370(3/room), or $355 (4/room), two beds per room. Mar 19-22, ROCK CREEK LODGE Advanced beginner to expert Rob Baum, 619-460-0551 Snowed-in lodge at 9500' in the Eastern Sierra Nevada. Wonderful backcountry touring in and around the Little Lakes Valley, surrounded by 13,000' peaks. Excellent meals. Rustic dorm accomodations are about $240 for 3 nights, including breakfasts, and dinners. Carpool and first night motel not included. Cabins with bath may be available; book directly with the Lodge. Deadline for signup is 1/12/05.
Mar 28-Apr 10, NORWAY HUT-TO-HUT Advanced intermediate or better Fred Gabbard, 619-297-6471 (email preferred) Hut-to-hut ski touring in Jotunheimen, the highest mountain area of Norway. You’ll need to carry your food, sleeping bag and personal gear. Long climbs and steep descents are likely. Avalanche gear and climbing skins are required. Costs include airfare, lodging in Oslo, transportation within Norway, food, and hut fees, very roughly $1500.
April 8-11, CLAIR TAPPAAN LODGE All levels Mark Eckel, 858-509-9203 About $350 (airfare, shuttle, lodging, all meals). CTL is home base for Sierra Club skiers. Located in the North Lake Tahoe area by Donner Pass, CTL is surrounded by downhill and cross-country resorts, back country huts, and wilderness areas. Rentals and lessons available.
