Global Warming Committee
Purpose
To promote efficient use of our energy resources, and safe, sustainable energy production.
Goals
1. to further the work of the Sierra Club Cool Cities Campaign by forming teams of volunteers to follow up on the actions taken by the local government in our counties San Diego and Imperial) whose mayors have signed the Mayors Agreement on Climate Protection or the Climate Action Registry.
2. to continue to study and give input to the California Air Resources Board as they formulate policies and regulations to implement AB32, the California Global Warming Solutions Act, which requires our state to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions to 1990 levels by the year 2020.
3. to support all efforts to improve and expand recycling in our counties and to work toward a zero waste policy.
4. to support clean, locally generated alternative energy in our counties and to actively oppose the Sunrise Powerlink and any power plants fired by fossil fuels.
