Forest and Wilderness Committee
Purpose
To ensure protection of our precious public lands resources through campaigns and projects, and by working with the United States Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management (BLM), California State Parks, and other land management agencies to further these objectives.
Example Activities
Participate in the California Wild Heritage Campaign - From 1999 over 25 of our volunteers have worked actively to identify, field-study, and prepare recommendations for over 20 potential wilderness areas and wild and scenic river segments, and build local support toward passage of bills in the United States Congress.
Forest Management Plan Update - very active in the important citizen review process from 2000 - 2003.
Meetings 7:00 P.M. the 1st Monday of each month (Wildlands Forum) at the chapter office or on alternate months in Imperial County.
