San Diego Sierra Club Photo Section
Bylaws
ARTICLE
1 - NAME
The name of the group shall
be the PHOTO SECTION of the San Diego Chapter of the Sierra Club.
ARTICLE 2 - PURPOSE
To promote the idea that photography can be done both to
support the Sierra Club members who are photographers or photography hobbyists
striving for excellence in photography and to mutually benefit the Sierra Club,
San Diego Chapter.
To
offer photographic instruction in the form of lectures, slide shows, and
activities to promote excellence in photography.
ARTICLE 3 - MEMBERSHIP
Membership in the Photo
Section is open to a0y member of the Sierra Club. Participation in Photo
Section ~ctivities shall be open to the public unless specifically stated o~~
~wise. Sierra Club membership is required for all leadership positions,
and for a; ~ection member to receive special Section offers. ~
ARTICLE
4 --OFFICERS AND ELECTIONS
~ection
1 - Collectively designated as "The Planning Board," the officers
shall be:
Chairperson,
Co-Chairperson, Treasurer, Secretary
Section 2 - All nominees for
officers shall be active members, in good standing, of the Photo Section.
Section 3 - The Chairperson
shall select a Nominating Committee to consist of two current officers and three
members which shall select a slate of nominees for officers.
Section 4 - Nominations may
be accepted from members at the January Section meeting,
or the first meeting of the
calendar year.
Section 5 - The
responsibilities of the officers shall be explained, and nominees shall accept
or decline nomination.
Section 6 - A hand-count
election will be taken at the January meeting (or the first meeting of the
calendar year).
Section 7 - The newly-elected officers will take office with the
February meeting
(or the second meeting of the
calendar year).

8 - The term of office shall be one calendar year, starting with the January
meeting.
:ction 9 - Should a vacancy occur during the year, the
officer shall be replaced by majority vote of the full number of remaining
officers. Absence of three consecutive planning meetings without reasonable
excuse shall terminate that officer from the position.
Section 10 - All Board members shall be at planning
meetings and assist with obtaining speakers or other program requirements.
ARTICLE 5 , DUTIES OF THE
OFFICERS
Section 1 - The CHAIRPERSON
shall be responsible for delegating section busineEs or personally handling
appointing special committees as necessary, and representing the Section to the
public and at Sierra Club San Diego New Members meetings.
Section 2 - The
CO-CHAIRPERSON shall assist the other officers Whenever possible and share
responsibility for doing Section business.
Section 3 - The TREASURER
shall have custody of all Section funds, shall maintain bank accounts as
needed, making deposits and disbursements, keep proper books, and prepare
financial reports as required by the San Diego Chapter.
Section 4 - The SECRETARY
shall publish and provide to each member of the Section a newsletter listing
the meetings, outings, and events of the Section. The SECRETARY shall also keep
the membership list current and submit articles to the HiSierran in a timely manner.
ARTICLE 6 - FINANCE
ction 1 - A fee may be levied on each member to cover
publication and mailing of the ~ection newsletter and other correspondence and
meeting refreshments as required.
Section 2 - The TREASURER
shall comply with the Bylaws of the Sierra Club San Diego Chapter in matters
pertaining to finance.
'ARTICLE 7 - MEETINGS
Section
1 - The officers shall~meet on a regular basis, to be determined upon their
election. Special meetings may be called at the officers' discretion.
Section 2 - Regular Section
meeting shall be held monthly on the first Tuesday. Date, time, and location of
these meetings shall be given in the Photo Section Newsletter and in the
Chapter publication, the Hi Sierran.
Section 3 - A quorum for the
purpose of voting shall be 10% of the Photo Section members.
ARTICLE 8 - OUTINGS
Outings
shall be operated in accordance with Bylaws of the San Diego Chapter of the
Sierra Club. All leaders shaii be qualified Cha~ter Outings Leaders.
ARTICLE 9 - CHANGES OR AMENDMENTS TO BYLAWS '' ~‑
These Bylaws may be changed
or amended by an affirmative vote of 2/3 of a quorum of
Section members.
ARTICLE 10 - CONFLICT
OF BYLAWS
:the event of any conflict between these Byalws and
those of the Sierra Club San Diego ~apter, the Byalws of the ~hapter will take
precedence.
