Labor Day Backpack Bus Trip to the Ansel Adams Wilderness.

$205 includes charter bus and permit fees. Four Backpacks into the Sierra Nevada from the Mammoth Lakes and the Devil's Postpile. Meals not included. Send your $20 refundable deposit (payable to the Sierra Club) to John Challen, 6780 Friars Road #216, San Diego, CA 92108-1117, 619-508-1597.


Trip 1: AGNEW MEADOWS TO GARNET LAKE (M6.5C)
Leader: Pauline Jimenez; Assistant: Walter Konopka

Classic backpack along the John Muir Trail!  Two nights at Garnet Lake, visiting picturesque Thousand Island Lake and the "gems" -- Garnet and Emerald Lakes.  Move camp to San Joaquin Middle Fork for last night, returning to Agnew Meadows via the River Trail. 

Trip 2: MAMMOTH LAKES to CONVICT LAKE (M7C)
Leader: Mike Fry; Assistant: Sharon Rhodes

Outstandingly scenic backpack along John Muir and Pacific Crest Trails.  We will cross Duck Pass and McGee Pass on trails, and a very easy cross country pass into Convict Canyon.  We will hike about 7 miles each day.  Optional climb of Red Slate Mtn.

Trip 3: AGNEW MEADOWS TO CLARK LAKES (M10C)
Leader: Marty Stevens; Assistant: Howard Kellogg

Travel 6 miles with 1,700 feet elevation gain on the PCT to Clark Lakes for base camp.  Tremendous day hiking to include Summit Lake, Spooky Meadow, and Agnew, Gem, Billy, Waugh, Weber, Sullivan, Thousand Island, Emerald, Ruby, Garnet, Altha, and Badger Lakes.  Yippie!

Trip 4: RODGERS PEAK - 12,978 FT (S10E)
Leader: Rob Baum; Assistant: Mark Eckel

We'll backpack in on trails into this highly scenic area. Cross country day hikes with some 2nd class scrambling to bag a peak or two. The view from Rodgers is amazing!  Additional possible climb of Donahue Peak 12,025ft

You will receive a full refund if: 1) We cancel the trip. 2) The leader determines you shouldn’t be on the trip. 3) You find your own replacement and they reimburse you. You will receive a partial refund if: 1) We find your replacement and keep only your deposit. 2) We can’t replace you, but we get a refund (or are not charged) because of your absence (you get back whatever we get back).
