Yosemite July Fourth Bus Trip 2003

July 2-6, Wednesday - Sunday
Coordinator: Kirk Belles
$150 for the bus and park fees

Two trips will explore the Tuolumne Meadows region and two will hike south to Mammoth. The bus will leave early Wednesday evening July 2nd and return late Sunday July 6th.

Trip 1: Young Lakes/Tuolumne Meadows (M7C)
Leaders: Pat & Larry Klaasen
We will ascend out of Tuolumne Meadows on glaciated granite to base camp at Young Lakes, 7 mi. The next two days will be for peak, lake, or fish bagging. Sunday, we’ll loop back to the trailhead and bus via Dog Lake and Lembert Dome.
Total distance: BP 14 miles, day hikes variable.

Trip 2: Ten Lakes Basin (H9D)
Leader: Pauline Jimenez, Asst: Howard Kellogg
We’ll ascend the Ten Lakes Pass (9,600 ft.), wind around Tuolumne Peak, and roller coaster down to Polly Dome Lakes on our way to the beautiful roaring falls near Glen Aulin. Hike out via the majestic Tuolumne River.
Total distance: 28 miles.

Trip 3: Parker Pass (H11D)
Leader: Starla Rivers, Asst: Blake Cournyer
Join us on this 25-mile odyssey as we traverse from Dana Meadows over Parker Pass (12,000 ft.) to Mammoth Lakes. This trip will feature unparalleled views, adventuresome days, star-laden nights, unforgettable camaraderie and possible side trip to bag Carson Peak.
Total distance: 25 miles.

Trip 4: Lyell Canyon (M10C)
Leader: Mike Fry, Asst: Martin Stevens
Classic 30 mile, 3-1/2 day backpack along the John Muir and Pacific Crest Trails. Donahue Pass, views of alpine lakes, and ridges (excellent wildflowers, pending rain). Optional strenuous climb of Rogers Peak (12,978' class 2-3).
Total distance: 30 miles (36 with the peak).
